Common questions

What is a state gambling help website?

It is a website run by a state agency, a state council on problem gambling, or a similar group. It usually lists the state's helpline, free or low-cost counseling, self-exclusion programs and local support groups.

How do I find gambling help in my state?

Type your state in the Jump to your state box at the top of this page, or tap its two-letter code. Each state section lists the gambling help websites we found for that state, plus a link to our Gambling My State page with more detail.

Is gambling treatment free in my state?

Many states fund free or low-cost counseling for people affected by gambling, but it depends on the state, the provider and your situation. The state website for your area is the best place to check what is covered right now.

What if my state has no website listed?

Use the National and online section. The National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), is run by the National Council on Problem Gambling and is free, confidential and available around the clock in all 50 states.

Can family members use these websites?

Yes. Most state councils and national groups also help spouses, parents and friends. Gam-Anon and many state programs offer support for loved ones even if the person gambling is not ready for help.

What is self-exclusion?

Self-exclusion lets you ban yourself from casinos, sports betting or online gambling for a set time. Many state websites explain how to sign up. One sign-up may not cover every casino, tribal site or online operator, so check each program.

Does GA or GO run these websites?

No. These are independent organizations. GA or GO is a peer-led recovery resource. Listing a website here does not mean it endorses or works with GA or GO.

How often is this list checked?

The links were gathered in September 2026 and duplicates were removed. Websites can change, so please tell us through the contact page if a link is broken or out of date.
