Gambling Help and Treatment Resources in All 50 States

You cannot change the bets you already placed. You can decide what happens next.

We help adults across all 50 states explore gambling recovery resources and treatment options. Clinical services, eligibility, costs, and availability depend on the provider and your location.

Gambling recovery support and treatment navigation for adults 18+ in all 50 states.

You do not have to lose everything before asking for help. Whether gambling has started causing stress or has affected your finances, relationships, work, or peace of mind, we help you explore support and treatment options and take the next step.

This page is for adults 18 and older: young adults, working professionals, parents, older adults, and anyone supporting a loved one. Our age rule is separate from the gambling age in your state.

What we do, and what others do

  • GA or GO: peer-led information, a meeting finder, treatment navigation, and a real person to call or text.
  • Independent providers: therapy, intensive programs and residential care. They set their own eligibility and costs.
  • Community groups: Gamblers Anonymous and Gam-Anon meetings, free and peer-run.

Choose your state

Every state has its own page with local contacts, meetings, treatment listings and self-exclusion guidance.

"I do not need one more bet. I need a next step."

Where are you right now?

Tap a card to open it.

I keep trying to win it back.

Chasing losses is one of the most common patterns in gambling problems. The next bet feels like the way out, and it usually digs the hole deeper. That pull is not a character flaw.

Next step: Pause access today: delete the apps, ask someone to hold your cards, and tell one person what's going on.

Find a meeting tonight
I have not hit rock bottom.

You don't need a disaster to ask questions. If gambling is starting to cause worry, that is enough reason to talk to someone.

Next step: Try one meeting as a listener. You don't have to say anything.

See meetings
I am worried about someone I love.

Families feel this too. You can get support for yourself even if the person gambling isn't ready. Protecting your own money and setting clear boundaries is not betrayal.

Next step: Look for a Gam-Anon or family group, and separate shared accounts if needed.

Find family groups
I need help, but I still have to work.

Care comes in different intensities. Some programs are evenings, outpatient, or online. Availability depends on the provider and your location.

Next step: Ask providers directly about evening or virtual hours before you commit.

Explore treatment
I stopped gambling, but I am still overwhelmed.

Stopping is a big step, and the money, relationships and feelings don't fix themselves overnight. Practical help with debt and routines matters too.

Next step: Make a simple list of debts and bills, then take it to a nonprofit credit counselor.

Debt help
I returned to gambling after stopping.

Going back happens to many people. It doesn't erase the time you had. What matters is reconnecting with support and looking honestly at what led you there.

Next step: Call someone from your phone list or go to a meeting today.

What could I protect by not gambling?

Stopping gambling prevents additional gambling losses. Existing debts, interest, fees, and living expenses still need a plan.

Common questions

Do you help people in all 50 states?

Yes. Adults anywhere in the U.S. can contact us for recovery information and help finding treatment options. We don't run treatment centers in every state or employ clinicians licensed everywhere. Clinical care comes from independent providers.

What ages do you help?

Adults 18 and older, including young adults and older adults. Individual programs may have their own age rules. Our age rule is separate from the legal gambling age in your state.

Do I need a diagnosis before reaching out?

No. You can ask questions and look at options without deciding what label fits you.

Do I have to hit rock bottom?

No. Being worried about how gambling is affecting you is enough reason to reach out.

Do you provide treatment directly?

No. GA or GO is a peer-led resource built on lived experience. We help you find meetings, treatment programs and practical help. Lilac Grove in Arizona is our featured partner, and we label it that way everywhere it appears.

What is the difference between coaching, peer support, and therapy?

Therapy is given by a licensed clinician who can diagnose and treat. Peer support, like GA meetings or a sponsor, comes from people who have lived it. Coaching helps with goals, routines and accountability. Coaching and peer support are not a substitute for licensed clinical care.

Can I get help online?

Often, yes. Online meetings are available every day. For online therapy, confirm the provider can serve someone physically located in your state.

Is gambling treatment covered by insurance?

It depends on your plan, the provider and the service. Call the number on your insurance card and ask about gambling disorder treatment before you start.

Are there free or lower-cost options?

Gamblers Anonymous and Gam-Anon meetings are free. Many states fund problem gambling services; your state page links to your state's resource so you can ask. Not every listed service is free.

Can you help my spouse, parent, or adult child?

Yes. Loved ones can reach out for information and support for themselves, even if the person gambling isn't ready.

Will stopping gambling erase my debt?

No. Stopping prevents new gambling losses. Existing debts, interest and fees still need a plan. Our Debt Help page walks through first steps.

What is self-exclusion?

It's a program where you ask to be banned from gambling venues or sites for a set time. Each state runs its own. Check your state's official program for what it covers, how long it lasts and how to enroll.

Does self-exclusion block every gambling website?

No. Coverage varies by state and by operator. Offshore sites and some products may not be covered, so blocking software and bank gambling blocks can help fill gaps.

Is my information private?

Nothing you type in the calculators on this page is saved or sent. If you fill out a form, your answers are stored in our database and emailed to the GA or GO team so a person can reply. Our full privacy details are pending owner review.

What happens after I contact you?

A real person from GA or GO reads your message and gets back to you. You can also call or text 844-494-9435 or 646-721-2056. Our forms are not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or call 1-800-MY-RESET.

How often is state information updated?

We plan to review resource contacts monthly and state summaries quarterly. This page was last reviewed September 2026. Linked sources may cover older periods.
